It's running the firmware and it has charged a battery! There are still some more software bugs to work out and I will probably still make some minor hardware changes, but lets just say I think this is the coolest battery charger I have ever handled!
I didn't post on here about sending them off, but the latest LCD charger boards are back! I have only partially populated one of the boards, enough to run some basic test on the microcontroller, but the great news is so far it works! This is much better than my last fiasco with boards that refused to work!... at all!!
Over the next few days I am going to add additional parts in phases and do testing as I have time available.
I can't tell you how great it feels to finally feel like things are moving again with the LCD charger. : )
Mark (the firmware guy) messaged me a while back about success he has been having charging AAA's using gold plated magnets. It puts less strain on the clips than my method and it holds the cells more directly over the temperature sensors. He has a post about it on the UltraSmartCharger Forum.
He has also done more work on the LCD charger firmware and uploaded the latest video.
